Small businesses especially cannot afford legal teams to monitor every government gazette and regulatory update. A restaurant might miss new health regulations, a fintech could overlook central bank directives, or manufacturers might not know about new standards until inspectors arrive. Developers must create automated tracking systems that monitor regulatory changes, alert affected businesses, provide plain-language summaries, and help maintain compliance across constantly evolving legal landscapes.

The Regulatory Change Tracker Challenge calls for developers to create automated systems that monitor, detect, and summarize changes in laws, regulations, and government policies relevant to businesses. This challenge addresses the compliance risks businesses face when they miss critical regulatory updates.

Participants will develop systems that automatically scan government gazettes, official websites, and regulatory bodies for new laws, amendments, and policy changes. The system should categorize updates by industry and impact, provide plain-language summaries of changes, alert affected businesses, and maintain a searchable database of regulatory history.

Successful solutions will use NLP to extract key changes from legal documents, identify which businesses are affected, explain compliance requirements in simple terms, and provide timelines for implementation. The system should handle multiple jurisdictions, track changes across different regulatory domains, and offer personalized alerts based on business profiles.

We particularly value solutions that cover multiple African countries, translate legalese into actionable business guidance, provide implementation checklists, and integrate with business compliance systems. The platform should help businesses stay compliant, avoid penalties, and adapt quickly to regulatory changes.
